Heifers bred for years of quality service.
Genetics.
The pillars of our genetics have always been low birth weight, high growth rate, fertility and milk production. We have recently added IMF (marbling) scores as our 5th genetic pillar.
Temperament.
For stock to remain in our herd, they have to display easy handing ability and not be easily spooked. This begins at mustering with their mums followed by weaning in the yards, where all animals are taught to respond to voice commands rather than use of force.
Mother-ability.
All our females, including heifers, calve in the paddock without any supervision. We have not needed to pull a calf or had any deaths in calving for over 25 years. We take particular notice of the offspring of our first calvers to cull out any mum’s who are not performing to our standards.
