We sell on average 75 bulls per year out of the paddock mostly to return buyers from the North West and New England areas. We also sell on AuctionsPlus and have achieved consistently high market values.

About Us

Woonooka Angus Stud originally started on 100 acres at “Woonooka” Moore Creek with 10 PTIC cows from Bronmar Angus Stud, Blackville in 1985. We are now running 200 breeders producing seed stock bulls & replacement heifers on 2,500 acres of undulating country 10km east of Tamworth. The Woonooka Angus Stud is widely recognised for producing athletic, low birth weight bulls ideal for putting over heifers as well as well bred, medium to large framed cows that are good ‘doers’ and great mothers. All our animals are very quiet which is achieved through low stress handling methods including responding to voice commands learned during weaning in the yards. We source our genetics from well recognised and credible studs, including Te Mania, Booroomooka, Farrer and Alumy Creek. We look for EBV’s in the top percentile for calving ease, growth and carcass traits, milk and marbling.

We proudly support our cattle with progressive regenerative farming practices to ensure our cattle can thrive in all seasons via investment in soils and infrastructure to improve nutrition and drought tolerance.

Our Genetics

Our herd has evolved over 30 years from selecting bulls with EBV's and phenotypes that suit our breeding goals - low birth weight with high growth and carcass weights. We have purchased bulls from Te Mania, Booroomooka, Alumy Creek, Farrer and Timbarra studs that have improved a good herd to an outstanding herd.
